Baby's Nursery!

I am so excited about the progress we are making on the nursery :) We actually put her crib together about a month ago. The day after we put it together I had to go to the hospital because I started showing signs of early labor :( And I have been on bed rest since...which has been really hard. It is especially hard to work on the nursery since I can't go anywhere. Thank goodness for online shopping :)

Here is a before picture of the room we are using for the nursery. This room was one that I had not gotten around to decorating yet. The day bed is going to stay in the room...don't worry though that bedding is going to go ;)

 

The first thing Nathan and I started looking for was a crib. We looked at so many cribs but just couldn't find anything that we liked. Finally, I found this beautiful iron crib that I immediately fell in love with!!

 

 

As soon as I saw it I knew it was exactly the look I was going for! This is the Casablanca Crib in Distressed White. You can find it HERE at Cloud 9.

I have an old rocker that I am going to get recovered. It is an awful blue fabric right now. It will look so much better once it is white :) I haven't picked out fabric just yet...I am waiting for the bedding (which I ordered today) to come in. Here is the chair before.

 

 

 

I am also planning on putting an armoire in the room. I have looked at tons and it has been really hard to find one that is exactly what I want...so I think someone is going to build it for me. I wanted to make sure that I got one that had the same feel as the rest of the room. And I didn't want it to be too big. I just can't imagine a huge armoire for a little bitty girl. So we are going with a more child sized armoire rather than the grand ones people are using so much these days. Here is a picture of what I am hoping it will look like.

 

 

 

Nathan has also been on me about picking out a paint color so he can get the room painted. If you know me at all you know that I have a super hard time making decisions about decorating. And I am even worse when it comes to deciding on a paint color!! So I have a feeling I will go with my trusty go-to color....

Edgecomb Gray (Benjamin Moore)

I LOVE this color!! I started out using it in my living/dining room. And every time I started to paint another room in the house I ended up going back to this. So I have a feeling that the nursery will end up being this color as well :)

 

 

The bedding I ordered is all white but I am planning on having her monogram put on some of the pillows in pink. And I want to accent with pink. Here is a picture of the pink mobile that will hang above her crib.

Nursery Inspiration

I LOVE decorating my house more than anything so you can just image my excitement for working on my sweet baby's nursery. I started dreaming up the perfect nursery long before we knew about our little one...and as soon as I found out I was pregnant I started planning :) Of course there wasn't much I could do at first since I knew I wanted the nursery to be gender specific.

 

Now that we know we are having a baby girl I have really been starting to get some stuff together. I know that I want her nursery to mainly be white. Yes...White :) I know a lot of people think white is boring...but I love it. I think it is so elegant and timeless. I want the room to have a heavenly feel. But I also plan to accent with a soft pink.

 

Here are a few picture I found early on of a few nurseries that I really love.

 

 

I especially love the last one...probably because of the armoire and chandelier. I plan to use both in baby girl's nursery :)

 

I have also looked at so many bedding options...I plan on having a day bed in the nursery so I have been trying to find crib bedding that I can get twin size bedding to match. I have looked at several brands...but I think I have finally decided on something from Restoration Hardware. I am ordering it this weekend...let's hope I like it!

Gender Reveal Party!!

I cannot believe how quickly time flies!! It has been a while since my last post...and SOOO much has changed in our lives!! We found out in April that we are expecting our first baby! We are sooo excited! So far I have had the easiest pregnancy! I hope they are all like this...Nathan and I wants lots of children and I don't mind if they are all this easy :) We had our gender reveal party the past Friday night! We went for our anatomy ultrasound at 9am Friday morning and got to see our precious baby! But we decided not to find out the gender at the doctor. We had the ultrasound tech put the gender pictures in a sealed envelope and took it to a friend Nathan works with and had him fill a piñata with pink or blue candy!! And that night at the party we busted the piñata in front of all of our family and friends! It was so much fun that I just had to share :)

I made a chalk board of all the Old Wives Tales used for predicting gender. I had 2 that said girl and 3 that said boy!

We took pictures of everyone holding the chalk boards of what they thought baby Campbell's gender was going to be! It is fun to look back and see who was right!!

My mom thought from the very beginning that we were having a boy! Dad wouldn't say for a long time what he thought the baby was going to be...but he finally told us that night that he thought it was a boy too!

 Nathan's dad also said from the beginning that he thought we were having a boy! His step mom voted for a girl!

When I found out I was pregnant I felt like I would have some sort of motherly instinct that would tell me what we were having...but I never got it!! I never could make up mind on what baby Campbell was. It took Nathan a long time...but one day he said "It's a girl!" Here is a picture of us before we busted the piñata!

 

 

We bought this piñata from ETSY!! Most people we know have done the cake for their gender reveal parties so we wanted to do something different...and I think this was a hit!! Isn't it precious!!

 

 

 

I was the one that was going to bust the piñata....but I couldn't do it!! I think I hit it a good 7 times and it wouldn't budge!!!

 

I finally handed the bat over to Nathan!! My arms were tired!

 He immediately busted it!!!! AND........

 

 

Out came PINK candy!!!

We were so excited!!

 

 

IT'S A GIRL!!!!!

 

 

 

Baby girl was given her first gifts!! An Alabama Cheerleader outfit and burp cloth! And a beautiful silver rattle!!

Kitchen Reveal!

I couldnt't wait any longer to do the kitchen reveal...so here it is! It is still not 100% complete...but it is super close so I am going to go ahead and show what we've done :) We have been working so hard the last few weeks and I really think it has paid off! I LOVE my new kitchen!! It is exactly what I imagined! Here we go...

Doesn't is look a billion times better! I have so much more room for cooking and I have a dishwasher :) YAY! Here is a reminder of what my Kitchen Inspiration was...

We changed things up a little in our kitchen...we didn't do the table attached to the island for functional/space reasons. I loved the lantern lights in this kitchen...however, they are $3000 a piece and we definitely didn't like them that much ;) I am still lacking counter stools for the island and table and some shelving...but other than that and some more decorating we are all done :) and very happy!! Here are a few more pictures...





We are so glad to almost have this project behind us! It has been longer and more difficult than either of us thought it would be...but it was totally worth it! I hope to do a breakdown of everything we did soon! I just couldn't wait any longer to show some pictures! Now it's time to cook!
